The issue of so called erased should be solved in line with Constitutional Court's decisions

Today is the 16th anniversary of the erasure of about 18,000 people that the Slovenian authorities made invisible, and it is time that the Slovenian government admits and rights these violations, AI said.

Human Rights Ombudsman Zdenka Cebasek Travnik said that the issue of so called erased should be solved in line with Constitutional Court's decisions.

According to her, suitable solutions have been proposed even before things got complicated. "We still come across sad fates of people, who did not understand the meaning of the then erasure."

According to the human rights organisation, the right steps to do so are to scrap the proposed constitutional law on the erased, publicly admit responsibility for the erasure as a human rights violation and ensure that all steps are taken according to resolutions of the Slovenian Constitutional Court and international human rights bodies.
