The Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia and the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia prepared a consultation entitled The Elderly as the Present and the Future of the Society, which took place on Thursday, 27 September 2018, in the National Assembly Chamber of the Republic of Slovenia.
At the conference, lectures on issues related to the elderly people were presented by lecturers in the area of social care, institutional care, medicine and law, in order to search for answers to the challenges of a long-standing society.
The first part of the conference was devoted to the presentation of measures, projects and activities aimed to help older people and improve the quality of their lives.
In the second part, the Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia presented the results of the research in the field of nutrition, hospital infections and custody, supplemented by opinions from experts from the above areas. Participants also dedicated themselves to the problems of violence against the elderly, dementia and care for older people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups of the elderly.
