As part of the healthcare section of the SEE NPM Network, National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) Serbia organised on 22 December 2020 an online meeting of members of the network on the treatment of persons addicted to psychoactive substances in prisons.
The meeting was aimed at exchanging experiences and strengthening the abilities of NPMs to monitor the treatment of persons addicted to psychoactive substances as a particularly vulnerable category of persons deprived of their liberty. The findings from the thematic visits were presented by NPM Serbia and other representatives of the Serbian prison system, while Deputy Šelih and the member of NPM Slovenia Robert Gačnik, spec., also addressed the situation in Slovenia in more detail, including in regard to the arrangement or provision of healthcare in prisons from the public healthcare network as examples of good practice.
