The Human Rights Ombudsman may have a minimum two or a maximum four deputies, appointed by The National Assembly of The Republic of Slovenia on a proposal of the Ombudsman. Their mandate is six years.

The Deputy Ombudsmen currently are:

• Ivan Šelih - Pending the election of a new Ombudsman for a new term of office, the deputy ombudsman has temporarily assumed the leadership of the institution in accordance with Article 17 of the Ombudsman Act and the Decision on the order of replacement of the Ombudsman.
